SELECTIVE LICENSING · REVIEWED RECORD

Leicester selective licensing: 2022 designation

Leicester’s selective designation covers parts of five wards in three clusters. Current council guidance includes smaller HMOs within those selective areas.

Evidence reviewed Recorded period: to Revision 1
The exact address needs a boundary check.

This is a partial-area designation. Ward names and postcodes cannot by themselves establish whether this property is covered. Use the council map or address service.

Which properties does the designation cover?

Stoneygate (East); Westcotes, Fosse and Braunstone Park & Rowley Fields (West); Saffron (South), within Annex A’s blue-edged mapped areas.

  • Privately rented homes in the mapped area, including smaller HMOs not required to hold a Part 2 licence.

Scope, exclusions and separate checks

Only parts of the wards and some streets are included. An entire street name or postcode cannot replace the map and numbered street ranges. Larger HMOs need the separate HMO route.

  • Part 2 licensable HMOs, registered social landlord tenancies, management orders and temporary exemptions are excluded.
  • Other statutory exempt tenancies or buildings require the notice and legislation’s definitions.

Fees and the council application

Use Leicester’s current fee schedule and application process for your property. This record does not infer a fee from another council or a past year. A Rental Licensing subscription does not pay the council, submit an application or grant a licence.

What to do next

  1. Find the exact property in the official map and any relevant numbered street range.
  2. Use the current application guidance for the fee, declaration and safety evidence.
