SELECTIVE LICENSING · REVIEWED RECORD

Westminster selective licensing: designation 1

Westminster’s first selective designation covers eight mapped wards, with a common start and expiry alongside its separate second designation.

Evidence reviewed Recorded period: to Revision 1
The exact address needs a boundary check.

This is a partial-area designation. Ward names and postcodes cannot by themselves establish whether this property is covered. Use the council map or address service.

Which properties does the designation cover?

Abbey Road, Church Street, Harrow Road, Knightsbridge and Belgravia, Little Venice, Maida Vale, Queen’s Park and Westbourne, inside the blue-edged Annex A area.

  • Privately rented homes in the designated area, including single-household accommodation unless exempt.

Scope, exclusions and separate checks

The map controls the area. Confirm the exact property and the current HMO route; the selective notice’s reference to the older HMO scheme does not replace the 2026 renewal notice.

  • Mandatory or additional licensable HMOs use the relevant HMO route instead.
  • Social housing, management orders, temporary exemptions and statutory exempt tenancies require the notice’s exact definitions.

Fees and the council application

Use Westminster’s current fee schedule and application process for your property. This record does not infer a fee from another council or a past year. A Rental Licensing subscription does not pay the council, submit an application or grant a licence.

What to do next

  1. Find the property in designation 1’s legal map.
  2. Check Westminster’s current HMO designation before applying for selective licensing.
